The University had witnessed a substantive increase in the strength of students, teachers, non-teaching staff and daily visitors to the university campus. In order to decongest the rising vehicular traffic and to make the University campus pollution-free, the Traffic Planning and Enforcement Committee suggested to impose restrictions on the entry of four-wheeler vehicles of the students and outsiders inside the university campus, which was enforced by the University administration on October 19, 2015. Considering the diverse academic and administrative needs of the University, the concept of a facilitation mechanism emerged and after due deliberations, the Vehicle Pass Cell was established in October 2015 as a facilitation cell to provide entry passes to the four-wheeler vehicles entering the university campus.
The office of the Vehicle Pass Cell is located adjacent to the main gate near the University Enquiry. Dr. Gautam Sood is looking after the functioning of the Vehicle Pass Cell as its coordinator. The Cell attends to online as well as offline intimations for temporary vehicle pass and office is functional from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.
Intimation for vehicle pass can be sent to the office of the Vehicle Pass Cell at its office and can alternately be mailed at the email address: email@example.com. The prescribed format for vehicle pass application has been uploaded on the University Website (in both English and Punjabi language).
For confirmations related to the processing of pass applications, renewal of long-term passes or for any other issue related to vehicle passes, the office staff can also be reached at the landline number 0175-3046559.
For any emergency beyond the office hours, the Coordinator of the Vehicle Pass Cell can be accessed at Tel. No. 9814953333.
